After taking Broadway by storm, David Byrne’s theatrical concert brings the critically acclaimed Broadway show to HBO in a one-of-a-kind film directed by Oscar and Emmy-winner Spike Lee.

Spike Lee documents the former Talking Heads frontman’s brilliant, timely 2019 Broadway show, based on his recent album and tour of the same name. Singer David Byrne and a group of international musicians perform songs from the hit Broadway musical “American Utopia.”

Byrne’s trademark mix of rhythm and ideas are presented alongside music from his time with Talking Heads up to his most recent album American Utopia. With a vibrant new band and dancers from around the globe, Byrne tackles everyday matters from personal challenges to the sociopolitical challenges facing America today.
